“Rīgas satiksme” admits “Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o.” the winner of the tender for the supply of 52 electric buses and their spare parts

In the “Rīgas satiksme” tender for the supply of 52 electric buses and their spare parts, financial and technical offers were submitted by 2 suppliers – “Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o.” and “Karsan Otomotiv Sanayii ve Ticaret A.S.”. After evaluating the technical and financial offers of both applicants, “Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o.” was recognized as the winner.

By purchasing electric buses, the negative environmental impact of transportation in the city of Riga will be significantly reduced, the quality and comfort of movement will be improved, promoting a change in population habits, giving preference to public transportation and increasing the number of public transportation passengers. The new electric buses are expected to replace the outdated buses that have been in service for about 20 years.

In the first stage of the “Rīgas satiksme” electric bus procurement, 10 candidates showed interest in supplying vehicles. Five applicants were chosen for the second stage after a careful review of their applications, while two suppliers submitted their offers.

The total maximum planned purchase amount for the supply of 52 electric buses and their spare parts is EUR 34.3 million without VAT. The total duration of the contract is not expected to exceed 5 years, excluding the provided guarantee periods.

The planned maximum contract amount for the first 35 electric buses is EUR 23.1 million without VAT, and the electric buses will be purchased under the project “Purchase of electric buses for the city of Riga” (4.5.1.2/22/I/002), which will receive EUR 18.2 million in co-financing from the European Union Cohesion Fund. The maximum contract amount planned for the purchase of an additional 17 electric buses is EUR 11.2 million without VAT, and the purchase of these electric buses is planned to be carried out by attracting co-financing from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, but the purchase of these 17 electric buses has yet to be decided.
